OCTOPUS in English necklace

$85.00価格

This octopus necklace is designed using the English word “octopus,” transforming letters into the flowing shape of this fascinating sea creature.

The many curling legs and soft drooping form made this one especially challenging to design—but I finally completed it just in time for the FIFA World Cup.

Do you remember Paul the Octopus, the famous octopus who correctly predicted World Cup match results?

Octopuses are known for their remarkable intelligence, problem-solving skills, and curiosity.

Their mysterious nature has fascinated people around the world—and even inspired documentaries like My Octopus Teacher.

For me, as a Japanese kid, my first memory of octopus was takoyaki—a popular Japanese street food with pieces of octopus inside crispy round batter balls.

Interestingly, only a relatively small number of countries commonly eat octopus, making it a unique cultural food experience.

In Japanese, octopus is called “tako,” which amusingly sounds similar to “taco,” the Mexican dish—though they are completely different foods.

Using a word to create its own shape is a style I call “word art.”

This necklace blends typography, storytelling, and ocean life into a playful conversation-starting design perfect for sea lovers, foodies, soccer fans, and anyone who appreciates clever jewelry with personality.

  • Tips for plating/coated jewelry

    • Do not spray on perfume or other sprays while wearing plated/coated jewelry.
    • Wait until your lotion or cream is dry or has been absorbed by your skin before you wear plated/coated bracelet or necklace.
    • Substances like oil, nail polish, nail polish remover, chlorine, and perfume may react with metal jewelry and cause it to tarnish. This is also true for sweat, so make sure you remove your plated/coated jewelry when you exercise or doing anything requiring heavy work and when swimming.
    • After every use, clean your plated jewelry with a cotton ball or a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt. Gently rubbing the surface of your plated/coated jewelry using a soft jewelry cloth, helps restore shine. Do *not* use a polishing cloth as this will strip away the plating.
    • To avoid scratches, wrap your jewelry in a soft cloth after cleaning or keep it in a jewelry box separate from other types of jewelry you have. Small zip-locks work great.
